Museum of Modern Art Garden |
I am a documentary filmmaker-turned-photographer. I refer to my photographs
as “still films” for the way they suggest movement, previous
action, or something just about to occur. My films and my photographs
are housed in the permanent collections of major museums and galleries,
notably the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Museum of Fine Arts
in Houston, Museum of Art at Rhode Island School of Design, The
Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, Galerie Chateau d'Eau Museum of
Photography in Toulouse. Each of my two books of black and white
photography is an award winner. I shared my love of film for 25 enjoyable
years after founding and chairing the Film Studies Program at Long
Island University/CW Post Center. Now retired as Professor Emeritus, I
travel with my wife Rhoda to regions far and near in search of remote
locations and the presence of the past. We live among bears and deer in
rural northwestern New Jersey, in the lee of the Kittatinny Mountains.
